Hook, Line, and Sinker: Your Ultimate Guide to Fishing in Rockport, TX

As a seasoned host along the Texas coast, one question I often hear is, “Where’s a good place to go fishing?” Well, I’m excited to share some of my top picks for the best fishing spots around, complete with expert guides who can take your fishing experience to the next level!

First up is Fulton Harbor Pier. Rebuilt after Hurricane Harvey, this impressive 1,200-foot pier is outfitted with state-of-the-art green lights, making it a prime spot for fishing both day and night in Aransas Bay. It’s open 24/7, all year round. Fishing here comes with a modest fee of $5 per pole, but it’s free to stroll down and enjoy the stunning views. Forgot your gear? No worries! The attendant stand offers fishing equipment rentals, and there are plenty of bait stands nearby to stock up for your adventure.

Next, we have the pier at Rockport Beach Park. This 90-foot structure is a hotspot for snagging flounder, trout, and red drum. There’s a $10 parking fee, but the park offers so much more than just fishing. Enjoy cabanas, BBQ grills, playgrounds, and a saltwater pool. Don’t miss out on the Tiki Boats, Daiquiri shop, and the snow cone stand—Rockport Beach is a true family-friendly fishing paradise!

Not far from Rockport Beach, the Rockport Beach Breakwater pier is another gem where I’ve personally had success catching some sizable trout. It’s smaller but mighty and accessible 24/7! Across the harbor, at the end of Market Street, you’ll find its twin, perfect for fishing or dolphin watching.

For those who prefer wade fishing, the Copano Bay Bridge boat ramp is an excellent choice. You can park and walk in from the East side of the bridge, or fish along the ramp and the banks in this area.
